Bob said... Nice column, but, as classmate Lois [Livingston]Frazer has pointed out, she wishes they had mentioned something about our award recipient for this year, Mr. Paul Keane. The tradition of quality teaching continues.
At the poetry reading session, held at the Main Street Museum, Mr. Keane read Robert Frost's poem "Mending Wall" as his students have dramatized it for YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aMwiPl06D0
We must not loose sight of the tradition of excellence in teaching. Several of Whaley's students have had successful careers in the field of education including Mrs. Frazer, as well as Mrs. Jane[Woods]Koster, and Ms. Jeannie Denson. We salute them all! One of my students came up to me yesterday and said, "My grandmother's class gave you an Award". I proudly showed it to him.
It has been a special treat to know that many in the Live Poets Society are parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins of students I have taught over the last 25, even Dick McCormack our congressman folksinger!
It gives the entire event a family feeling.
Thanks so much again.
